The Spread Eagle Hotel - Since the 16th century, The Spread Eagle has hosted historic guests such as King Charles II and the writer Evelyn Waugh. The Greyhound Hotel - The beautiful and historic Greyhound Hotel forms the principal building of Cromford's Market Place and today offers free Wi-Fi, free on-site parking and modern, recently refurbished rooms. In the heart of the village, the Greyhound Hotel is a three-storey Georgian building, constructed in sandstone. It has made a substantial contribution to the history of the local area. Cromford Mill was the world's first factory and was built by Sir Richard Arkwright, inventor of the Water Frame, a machine that revolutionised the cotton industry. The Greyhound provided lodging for visitors to Cromford and was used as the location for festivities organised by Arkwright for his workforce.
