In the surrounding area are many good restaurants and pubs. Rooms with en suite bathrooms are available, as well as those with shared or private facilities.

Abbotsfordlodge- With a 4-star Visit Scotland award, Abbotsfordlodge is a spacious Victorian property, refurbished in a contemporary style. It is located on the edge of Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. Abbotsford Lodge is within walking distance of all amenities. There is off-street parking, with an area for motorbikes and secure storage for cycles. Walking, pony trekking, water sports, golfing and fishing are nearby, and Abbotsford Lodge has drying facilities for wet-weather gear.

Eyre Guest House- Built in the 1850s, Eyre Guest House is a centrally located town house in the historic New Town area of Edinburgh. The Eyre is situated next door to its sister guest house, the Ardenlee. The Eyre is a friendly and warm place to stay, just half a mile from Princes Street. The main train and bus stations are within walking distance.

Ard-na-Coille 5 Star Guest House- In the beautiful countryside of the Cairngorm National Park, this luxury guest house has been awarded 5 stars by VisitScotland and 5 Gold Stars by the AA in 2009. Ard-na-Coille offers luxury accommodation and stunning views. York House Hotel- This recently refurbished Georgian town house is situated in the city centre of Edinburgh, and offers friendly, relaxed guest house accommodation for a comfortable stay. Offering a variety of room types, the majority of which have en suite facilities, the York House Hotel is just 5 minutes' walk from the east end of Princes Street and a minutes walk from the bus station. The area is rich in history and has many excellent cafes, bars, restaurants, and shops. Waverley Train station is a 10 minute walk and Edinburgh Playhouse is a 3 minute walk away. The hotel is convenient for visiting the Castle, Holyrood Palace and museums and art galleries.

Glenavon- Glenavon is a family home within 10 minutes' walk of Oban town centre, offering rooms with TV and DVD players. All bedrooms at Glenavon share a bathroom and offer tea/coffee and a radio alarm clock. A continental breakfast can be provided in your room for a small additional cost (although this must be booked in advance). There is a limited amount of private parking to the rear of Glenavon.

Creag Meagaidh- Set within the Cairngorm National Park, this small, family-run guest house offers the ideal base from which to explore the wonderful mountain ranges of Cairngorm and Monadh Liath. A comfortable and modern home, Creag Meagaidh stands in the village of Newtonmore, which has a wonderful circular route around it called the Wildcat Trail. This is a fabulous walk (or run) with great views of the River Spey, the Cairngorm Mountains, Creag Dubh, woodlands, waterfalls and all sorts of wildlife. For moments of relaxation, the house has a secluded patio area at the rear. There is also ample parking space to the front of the house, and a secure cleaning and storage area for bikes, skis and other equipment.

Though Fraoch House is within walking distance of the city centre, the number 11 bus (Lothian Buses) stops right outside to make it even easier. Sands Hotel- Four star recently upgraded character building situated along the shore of Scapa Flow in Burray village. All rooms are en suite overlooking the beach and pier where local fishermen work.
