Close by are the Glen Moray distillery, the Elgin Cathedral ruins and biblical gardens. Beautiful beaches are 10 minutes away where you may spot bottlenose dolphins or even a minki whale. Southbank is close to museums, Johnsons Cashmere Centre, and Baxters, where you can sample a local pancake.

Balmore Guest House- This small, family-run guest house is in the Tollcross area of the city, within easy reach of Edinburghs main attractions, including the castle, theatres and shops. Balmore Guest House offers good-value accommodation, with breakfast included. Behind the house is Union Canal, which boasts beautiful walks and waterside restaurants. The late Victorian house is fully refurbished to provide all modern comforts, including free Wi-Fi. Balmore has maintained many of its original features, including a wrought-iron staircase, chandeliers and ornate cornices. Local train stations and major road links to Glasgow, Troon, Kilmarnock, Ayr and Largs can be accessed easily. The beautiful harbour-side area is 5 minutes' drive away and is adjacent to Irvine Beach Park, Magnum Leisure Centre and the popular Bridgegate shopping mall. There are 5 golf courses within easy reach of the Lodge: between 0.8 km and 40 km away. Transport to and from the courses is available. Nethermains Lodge is run informally and you can come and go as you please. Each room has en suite or private facilities. There is ample free private parking within the grounds, which is covered by CCTV.

Patio doors open out onto a south-facing, decked sun terrace.

Ailsa Cottage Bed And Breakfast- Immediately opposite Loch Ryan with views of ferries sailing in and out, our cottage is part of a Victorian terrace, which was once the home of a ship's captain. Our accommodation is newly refurbished with en suite and private bathrooms, and garden or loch views. Refreshment trays and colour TVs are in all rooms, and hairdryers, irons etc are available on request. We are happy to provide evening meals on request.
