Originally built in around 1860, the Bay House Lake View Guest House has a fabulous lakeside location in the charming old town of Bowness-on-Windermere. The town's shops, pubs and restaurants are only a few minutes' walk away, as is the Bowness Pier, from where you can enjoy a leisurely cruise on the lake. In the heart of the English Lake District, surrounded by breathtaking scenery, the guest house has spectacular views over the lake from 4 of its 6 en suite rooms. Newly refurbished and tastefully decorated in keeping with the age and character of the property, all of the rooms have TVs, tea/coffee making facilities and hairdryers. The guest house is family-run and your hosts, Sandra & Colin, have spent great care on sensitively upgrading the house.

Crompton House - Crompton House is a warm and friendly Victorian guest house located midway between the busy villages of Windermere and Bowness. The guest house is a clean, comfortable and reasonably priced bed and breakfast, with an excellent location in the English Lake District National Park, Windermere. The 7 guest rooms are non-smoking and each has an en suite bathroom. There is one four-poster room, one family room and 5 double rooms. A grilled full English breakfast is served in the dining room, as is a good choice of cereals, fruit and juice from the buffet table. Within easy walking distance there is a host of restaurants catering for all tastes and prices. There is also a cinema, nightclubs, pubs and shops. You can catch a steamer from the pier at Bowness for a memorable trip on the lake. This is a 3-star rated guest house.

The Willowsmere - This guest house was built in the mid-19th century using Lakeland stone. With award-winning gardens, The Willowsmere is a grand Victorian residence ideally located for a visit to the Lake District. Martin and Sue welcome you to their friendly and cosy home. In recent years, The Willowsmere has been tastefully restored and renovated to include luxuries you might not expect in a guest house. There are en suite bedrooms, 2 guest lounges and a hidden garden where you can enjoy a drink from the well-stocked cellar. All guests have free use of nearby leisure facilities (5 minutes' walk). The Willowsmere has a large off-road car park and is 8 minutes' walk from Windermere centre and train station and 10 minutes' walk from Lake Windermere. The Willowsmere generally operates a 2 or 3-night minimum-stay policy.

The White House Experience - This licensed country guest house is situated just 3 kilometres (2 miles) from junction 40 of the M6/A66, offering you a small, luxurious and homely alternative to regular travel accommodation. Some hotels and guesthouses can be very impersonal and soulless, treating each guest as little more than a name or number. Rose Cottage - A relaxing retreat in the heart of the Lake District, this charming 16th century cottage is situated in the picturesque village of Bowness, one minute's walk from Lake Windermere. Just a short stroll away from Bowness's shops, caf?s, restaurants and attractions, Rose Cottage provides comfortable bed and breakfast accommodation. Please note that the cottage is bed and breakfast only, no additional meals can be provided. Still maintaining many of its original features, the house can be unsuitable for disabled guests or those who have trouble with stairs. Unfortunately no ground floor rooms are available. Parking is available at a nearby public car park. Permits are available from Rose Cottage. A refundable deposit of GBP 10 is required.

Mariner's Inn - Situated in the heart of Bowness, this cosy and traditional Lakeland inn is just 200 yards from Lake Windermere, England's largest lake. All rooms are en-suite with flat-screen TVs and DVD players. There is also an extensive DVD library for guests to use. All rooms have hairdryers and alarm clock radios, and laptops can be used in all rooms and public areas as the inn is Wi-Fi enabled. After a day shopping, sightseeing or walking why not relax in the welcoming traditional bar serving a range of Jennings award-winning, cask conditioned ales, brewed in the Lake District. The inn has been awarded the coveted 'Cask Mark' accreditation in recognition for the way they look after their beers. The Mariner's Inn is the only pub in Bowness to have been awarded this accreditation.

Station Inn - Previously a farmhouse and a coaching inn, this inn has a beautiful rural setting with attractive views, as well as a large beer garden and an outdoor adventure playground. Complete with ample car parking and disabled toilets, the inn features 4 cask-conditioned ales and an extensive list of beers and lagers. The extensive restaurant menu is complemented by a daily specials board with an emphasis on local, fresh produce. There are 5 en suite bedrooms, with tea and coffee facilities, a TV, and a shower and bath.

Southview Guest House and Indoor Pool - Southview is a luxury bed and breakfast licensed guesthouse, with its own indoor heated swimming pool in the heart of Windermere. Situated in quiet cul-de-sac position overlooking the town centre, Southview is only a 2 minute walk from various bars and restaurants.
