All Seasons Guest House - This traditional Lakeland stone-built house offers comfortable accommodation in a great location, in the centre of the village of Windermere, in the heart of the beautiful Lake District. The house was originally built in 1854 for the railway, which arrived in Windermere at around that time. Today, the house's great location makes it a wonderful base from which to explore the stunning natural beauty and breathtaking scenery of the Lake District, which so inspired Wordsworth, Wainwright and Beatrix Potter. Windermere train and coach station is just a 3-minute walk away and all of the town's pubs and restaurants are also nearby. The house still retains its beautiful original exterior, slate roof and several other lovely period features. There are 3 comfortable, modern en suite rooms with showers, and one room with private facilities. Each room is comfortable and well equipped, with a flat-screen TV, a DVD player and tea/coffee making facilities.

The Old Vicarage - In quiet, peaceful wooded grounds, this family-run bed and breakfast has free parking, an indoor swimming pool, a sauna, a hot tub and a rooftop terrace with magnificent views of the fells. Close to Ambleside's town centre, The Old Vicarage has a quiet location with views over Rothay Park to the fells beyond. Full of charm and character, this spacious Victorian house has now been converted into an impressive 4-star bed and breakfast. The house offers beautifully furnished and decorated en suite rooms, all varying in size, style and views. There are newer, more modern rooms, as well as more traditional rooms. All rooms have mini-fridges, TVs, video recorders and DVD and CD players. Videos are available for guests' use, free of charge. There is a large lounge with an open fire, a piano and a small snooker table. Free Wi-Fi is available in the public rooms. A tasty full English breakfast is available each day.

Firgarth Guest House - This elegant Victorian house, built in Lakeland stone around 1875, offers views to the rear over Wynlass Beck, along with comfortable en suite rooms, a residents' lounge and private parking. Firgarth Guest House is conveniently situated just 12 minutes' walk from the centre of Windermere, which offers a range of shops, pubs and restaurants. The guest house has a great location, between the busy villages of Windermere and Bowness. It is a clean, comfortable and reasonably priced bed and breakfast, situated in the number one location within the English Lake District National Park: Windermere. The guest lounge is comfortable, with plenty of books and information on local walks, as well as a selection of games to keep you amused in the evenings. The traditional breakfast menu is all freshly prepared. There is a choice of orange juice, grapefruit, fresh fruit salad, cereals, yoghurt and a variety of cooked-to-order breakfasts. The guest house is regretfully unable to accept any arrivals after 20:00.

Beech Hill House B and B - In an unspoilt corner of the Lake District National Park, this traditional Lakeland home is an ideal base for exploring the Lake District and South Lakes Furness Peninsulas. Start the day with a traditional Lakeland breakfast, made with local produce and served in the sunny conservatory. Enjoy dinner at one of the many local pubs and restaurants. It's with regret that children under the age of 5 cannot be accommodated.

Churchill Inn - Located in the centre of Ambleside, with private parking and all the amenities literally on your doorstep. Within the hotel there are two bars: the larger Popular bar and the more tranquil Monty's bar with an open fire etc. A traditional bar menu is served in the the main bar with a 10% discount for residents.

The Westbourne - The Westbourne is a beautiful guest house in a peaceful area below Biskey Howe, a local beauty spot and panoramic viewpoint. Lake Windermere and the centre of Bowness-on-Windermere are a short walk away. The traditionally stone-built guest house has elegant bedrooms with modern designs and high ceilings for a light and spacious feel.

Fir Trees - Built in 1888 and retaining lots of original features, all rooms at this well-reputed guest house are well furnished, spotlessly clean and decorated to a very high standard. Fir Trees is close to all amenities in Windermere and Bowness, both of which are a 10 minute walk away. There is plenty of off-road car parking and a garage for cyclists who may wish to leave their cycles overnight. Breakfasts are all cooked to order and offer a good choice; just what you need to set you up for the day. There are lots of scenic walks nearby for those wishing to leave the car behind and go off on foot to explore this area of outstanding natural beauty. Enjoy free use of leisure facilities at Parklands Country Club, and a free day fishing pass for all local waters (equipment not provided).

The Willowsmere - This guest house was built in the mid-19th century using Lakeland stone. With award-winning gardens, The Willowsmere is a grand Victorian residence ideally located for a visit to the Lake District. Martin and Sue welcome you to their friendly and cosy home. In recent years, The Willowsmere has been tastefully restored and renovated to include luxuries you might not expect in a guest house. There are en suite bedrooms, 2 guest lounges and a hidden garden where you can enjoy a drink from the well-stocked cellar. All guests have free use of nearby leisure facilities (5 minutes' walk). The Willowsmere has a large off-road car park and is 8 minutes' walk from Windermere centre and train station and 10 minutes' walk from Lake Windermere. The Willowsmere generally operates a 2 or 3-night minimum-stay policy.

Broadlands Guest House - Set in the heart of the Lake District, this traditional Lakeland stone Victorian house is ideally located on a peaceful road just 2 minutes from the centre of Windermere village. The house has lovely views overlooking Ellethwaite Park and is ideally located for visits to Bowness on Windermere and the Lake. Many grades of walks can be started from the house the staff are happy to advise you on them and offer maps and guides to help. Locally organised tours can also be arranged for you, with collection and drop-off at the property. Although not a hotel, Broadlands Guest House is proud to have been awarded '3 AA Yellow Stars Highly Commended', in July 2009. This award is given to the top 10% of 3-star Guest Accommodation. Guests are offered free car park passes for use whilst staying at Broadlands. These can be used in all SLDC car parks in the area.

Knoll Country House - This beautiful late Victorian country house is set in its own grounds amidst beautiful wooded countryside, in the picturesque location of Newby Bridge, on the shore of Lake Windermere. Knoll Country House has many original period features including an ornate staircase, stained glass windows, fireplaces, cornices and picture rails. It has been sympathetically decorated and refurbished to enhance these beautiful characteristics. The hotel features in the Which? Guide to Good B&Bs and was chosen for the Editors Top 20 list in the 2004 guide. It has also been included in the Michelin Guide for 2007. This means that you can be assured of an excellent stay with superb food in comfortable and welcoming surroundings.
