Owners Stephen and Louise have established something fresh and exciting at The Cranleigh. The atmosphere is friendly and informal, while the accommodation has all the cutting edge style of an expensive boutique hotel. The lounge is classic style, with open fire place, leather furniture and mellow decor; a great place to relax with a glass of wine, champagne or one of the local ales. Hearty breakfasts are served in equally stylish surroundings. Bedrooms are simply stunning and totally contemporary, each with an individual style from a professional interior designer. All have luxurious goose-down duvets and fine cotton sheets, iPod docking stations, large screen TVs, DVD players (with free access to a large collection) and free Wi-Fi access. The fully tiled en suite bathrooms have designer fittings by Villeroy Boch, heated floors, mood lighting, dual-fuel towel rails, spacious shower enclosures and bathrobes. Those with air spa baths have a mirrored TV at the end of the bath for utter indulgence. All bedrooms contain the usual modern amenities with tea/coffee making facilities, colour tv, hair dryer, direct dial telephones, broadband internet access, luxury toiletries, tourist information, notepads etc. a separate ironing room is available, however executive suites include an ironing station, fresh flowers and complimentary welcome pack (wine, fresh fruit, still water and chocolates). Unfortunately the hotel does not have a lift.

Fir Trees - Built in 1888 and retaining lots of original features, all rooms at this well-reputed guest house are well furnished, spotlessly clean and decorated to a very high standard. Fir Trees is close to all amenities in Windermere and Bowness, both of which are a 10 minute walk away. There is plenty of off-road car parking and a garage for cyclists who may wish to leave their cycles overnight. Breakfasts are all cooked to order and offer a good choice; just what you need to set you up for the day. There are lots of scenic walks nearby for those wishing to leave the car behind and go off on foot to explore this area of outstanding natural beauty. Enjoy free use of leisure facilities at Parklands Country Club, and a free day fishing pass for all local waters (equipment not provided).

Crompton House - Crompton House is a warm and friendly Victorian guest house located midway between the busy villages of Windermere and Bowness. The guest house is a clean, comfortable and reasonably priced bed and breakfast, with an excellent location in the English Lake District National Park, Windermere. The 7 guest rooms are non-smoking and each has an en suite bathroom. There is one four-poster room, one family room and 5 double rooms. A grilled full English breakfast is served in the dining room, as is a good choice of cereals, fruit and juice from the buffet table. Within easy walking distance there is a host of restaurants catering for all tastes and prices. There is also a cinema, nightclubs, pubs and shops. You can catch a steamer from the pier at Bowness for a memorable trip on the lake. This is a 3-star rated guest house.
